I grew up in the city and first experienced dark, rural skies when I was 8 years old, it may have been the first time I even noticed the stars and I remember stopping and staring for a long while. Decades later, I purchased my first telescope and not long after that, I learned how to attach a camera to it. Now I spend nearly every clear night capturing the beauty of the universe and sharing it with anyone who wants to see it.
